Nose Work

Our Nose Work Introduction class is the perfect opportunity to increase the bond between handler and canine through nose work.
Whether you are just looking for something fun to share with your canine or are looking to develop your skills for a greater challenge down the road this class has you covered!

Our Advanced Nose Work class is specifically geared to develop the exceptional working canine you have at home.
This class will not only reinforce what was learned in the introduction class but will challenge you and your canine as a team with real life scenarios taken from our experience on live searches!

Nose Work Introduction

This class is an hour a week for 6 weeks and is designed to give you and your canine a brief introduction to nose work.
Although dogs use a mix of tracking, trailing and area search tactics to accomplish their mission we have found, through proven experience, that dogs will naturally default to one of these methods more than the others. This class is designed to be an introduction to all three methods and will help you decide which method is right for you based on how your canine performs in these situations.

This class is offered in group, and private training settings and covers the following topics:
Introduction to:
  • The canine olfactory system
  • Scent Theory
  • Sign-cutting and man tracking
  •  Proper line handling techniques
  • Tracking, trailing and area search work
Equipment "show and tell." We use a different set of equipment for all three settings
Canine "Fire Trail" or "Hot Trail" training
An exit evaluation with a recommendation on the next steps for you and your canine

Prerequisites:

Must be current on vaccinations
Must have completed an Obedience Level 1 Evaluation or be enrolled in the class

Cost:

 Price: $250.00
