Nose Work Introduction Group Class
This class is an hour a week for 6 weeks and is designed to give you and your canine a brief introduction to nose work.
Although dogs use a mix of tracking, trailing, and area search tactics to accomplish their mission, we have found through proven experience, that dogs will naturally default to one of these methods more than the others. This class is designed to be an introduction to all three methods and will help you decide which method is right for you based on how your canine performs in these situations.
This class covers the following topics:
Introduction to:
- The canine olfactory system
- Scent Theory
- Sign-cutting and man tracking
- Proper line handling techniques
- Tracking, trailing and area search work
- Introduction to gridding techniques
- Meteorology
Equipment "show and tell." We use a different set of equipment for all three settings
Canine "Fire Trail" or "Hot Trail" training
An exit evaluation with a recommendation on the next steps for you and your canine
